Stowe Vermont Foliage Arts Festival - Annual Event - October 2010

Stowe Foliage Arts FestivalThe Stowe Foliage Arts Festival is one of my favorite annual events. The Craftproducers present the event which is located at the Topnotch Field in Stowe. The weekend it is held is usually at the peak of the Stowe foliage season. Not only are visitors treated to the natural beauty surrounding the event, they are overwhelmed by exhibitors' products which range from paintings, jewelry, and pottery to music and food.

This year did not disappoint me. The sky was blue, the fall colors were at peak onStowe Craft Show Topnotch Field - by teresa merelman Mt. Mansfield, and the temperature was in the 60's. I arrived early - 10:00 a.m. - before the masses of tourists showed up. As Craftproducers say "The artists and artisans who display at the show have put their heart and soul into everything they offer". Items available include lamps, cabinets, coffee mugs, stained glass, paintings, prints, photography, woven rugs, marble benches, birdbaths, brooms, socks, hats, and jewelry. Also, of course, is the food. There was the Vermont Cheese, Beer and Sausage tent featuring Vermont-brewed beers, The food court was also a hit with items such as organic wood fired pizza, fresh apple cider, homemade ice cream and crepes.

Stowe Foliage Arts Festival by teresa merelmanThere was also a food vendor tent. Here you can sample many ofStowe Foliage Arts Festival by Teresa Merelman products before you buy. They range from chocolate, to nuts, to maple liqueur, to cheese, to dips and, of course, maple syrup. The food items not only make great gifts, you can treat yourself to them too!

Stowe Foliage Arts Festival by Teresa MerelmanThe displays of artwork ranged from watercolor, to acrylic and oil. Several local photographers also displayed their various views from cows to barns and mountains.

While walking around enjoying all the crafts and food, you could hear music provided by Flutewalker Musical Arts and Peter Blanchette's archguitar. The Silver Leviathan Band could also be heard featuring the sounds of saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba and drums.

The Stowe Foliage Arts Festival is truly a treat to all ones senses. It's almost a sensory overload and I loved every moment of it!

As usual, I took lots of photos. Below is a slideshow showing more of the vendors and guests. If you missed it this year, plan to attend next year!

The British Invasion in Stowe, Vermont - September 17-19, 2010

The British Invasion in Stowe, Vermont - September 17-19, 2010

British Invasion Stowe VermontFor the past 20 years, Stowe Vermont has hosted the British Invasion. Stowe's typical cars - Subarus and Chevys - become outnumbered by hundreds of tiny British cars - many with their tops down. The owners drive around with scarves, British hats and flags. It's quite a site for our local eyes!

The British Invasion is North America's largest British Classic SportsNew Englands British Invasion Stowe Vermont Car event. It is traditionally held in mid-September just before our prime foliage season.

This year, the weather was perfect! Sunny, a tad cool, with touchesStowe Vermont British Invasion by Teresa Merelman of autumn color peeking through. There were tourists from all over the world for the event.

The show itself featured Bentleys, Austin Healeys, Aston Martins, MGs, Morgans, Triumphs and Rolls Royces. A Stowe Village British Invasion Block Party was held on September 17th to kick off the Annual Event. It featured "The Beatles" group which played that great Beatles music British Invasion Stowe Vermont by Teresa Merelmanthroughout the night while adults and kids danced on Main Street surrounded by the "beautiful" classic cars. There was also food, crafts and refreshments for all to enjoy.

According to Chris Fancis, the British Invasion has grown exponentially over the years and is now one of Stowe's flagship events. It's a great community supported event. He also says "You've got art, you've got history, you've got romance - all tied up in these little cars". Chris and Lyn Francis, owners of Ye Olde England Inne and Pickwicks, were the driving force behind this event. Stowe Area Association, along with many local sponsors, put on a fun and well attended event. Once again, well done!

Here is a slideshow featuring many of the stars of the event. Hope you enjoy the photos and the music!
