When the winter starts it's winding down:
Homeowners across the Country usely start thinking about their spring cleaning. While some of the projects, like putting away their winter clothing, are symbolic and associated with the fun in the sun that lies ahead of them. Others, such as clearing away a winter's worth of clutter,

are merely associated with an afternoon spent working off a season's worth of procrastionation.
( If you are going to be listing your home for sale this spring, Please do not have areas of your home looking like this when Inspection day comes). Take pity on the Home Indpector.
I would also like to ask the help of all Listing Real Estate Agent's to get your listing client to clean areas like this around the home.
While all spring cleaning projects need to be done sooner or later, some carry more weight than others. Such is the case with post-winter repairs of the home. Much like your automobile can take a beating over a long winter, so, too can your home. That heightens the importance of post-winter home checkup. Once the cold weather has gone away, consider the following four post's to ensure that your home has made it through another winter in one piece.
Remember it sure is a good time to be Selling and Buying a home!

Take time to look at your ceilings, as if you are looking at them for the very first!
Any one that lives in an area, that has heavy winter snowfall. A telltale sign of leaks is a stained ceiling, which might appear brown or yellow in color after a few months of water infiltration.

Make note where the stains are, and then go otside to examine the corresponding areas of your roof. One thing to always remember, if you start to notice stains in the middle, it's sure best to wait untill after the winter months to inspect this problem. Going up on your roof in bad weather sure is just asking for trouble.

Once winter is done and gone, and you have a good day. To look your roof over, and have identified the trouble spots, you should seek the help of a profrssional roofer. Now unfortunately, if you've noticed the aforementioned of brown or yellow spots on your ceilings, you'll likely very will need to seal and paint the entire ciling. Be sure to even paint even where there was no spots. Otherwise, your ceilings will not look unifoem or very appealing.

It's time to locate that ladder and get ready to climb and to do some gutter cleaning.

If you are thinking of selling your home, and your gutters is filled with baby trees. The gutters will be written up in the Home Inspection Report.

One of the areas that just about all homeowners will notice that needs some post-winter work are their gutters abd the downspouts. While a leaky roof could be the culprit with the respect to water damage, that water damage could also vert will be the result of clogged gutters or downspouts. Just because you may have made it throygh the winter without any leaks and water damage, that sure doesn't necessarily mean that your gutters and the downspouts aren't backed up.
One of the very first post-winter projects you should address is to clean out those gutters and downspouts. Remove any and all debris that could very will lead to a backup. Do so on a day that's guaranteed to be sunny, so you can dismantle the downspouts to be sure they are clear from top to bottom.

It just makes sense to prepar yourself and your loved ones, for an Emergency!
The likelihood that you and your loved ones will survive a house fire depends as must on haven a working smoke detector and haven a exit strategy, as on a well trained Fire Department. And so it is. Ground Hog Day. The days are getting longer and the air is getting warmer......teasing us about the upcoming spring season. SPRING....it will come!
I am feeling very hopeful about the real estate market in Vermont. Although the National reports can make anyone feel glum, all we can do is focus on our local markets. There are some wonderful properties for sale here. Vermont has a lot to offer.
Our local Realtor Board is reporting that businesses in the area are interested in networking. For a few years everyone was so busy, it wasn't necessary to make connections, stop and talk to each other, promote our fellow businesses. That trend is changing.
Now is a great time for us to patronize local restaurants and event facilities for this purpose. They need us and we need them. These businesses help draw buyers to our area.
Internet, email, texting, blogging.....all great tools. However, mingling with your peers, having a laugh or two, getting to know each others strengths, we still need to do that.
This may sound strange to those of you in large metropolitan areas.....but up here in the Green State of mom and pop businesses............we all need to stick together.
Be well everyone,
