Proctorsville Community Luncheon Proctorsville Vermont, for folks which do not know Proctorsville, its another one of the mighty fine Small Towns in my area, which has a long History.

Proctorsville, Vermont was named for the family whose name was also used for the Town of Proctor, Vermont which is over by Rutland, Vermont on the South Western side of Vermont.
Captain Leonard Proctor, which was a Revolutionary War Veteran who had served at the Battles of Concord Bridge and Bunker Hill. He moved his family to Cavendish in the year of 1782. Captain Proctor along with his two sons, built a Shunpike to the Village of Gassetts in the neighboring Town of Chester, in order to avoid paying the tolls of one Mr. Dutton charged on his road. The story goes that because of Captain Proctor building his road, the Dutton's and the Proctor's families, plus the Villages of Duttonsville and Proctorsville, started feuding and the feud went on for seventy five years. It came to an end when young Redfield, (which became a United States Senator later on) and Miss Emily Dutton got married.
