Dreaming of a White Christmas?

Meredith Laws - Windermere Real Estate/ Anacortes Properties - 360-770-1997: Real Estate Agent in Anacortes, WA

It NEVER snows in Anacortes! Really! Except once in a while... like now! If memory serves, but it often doesn't, this year's weather pattern seems eerily similar to the winter of 1996, when we had a ton of snow throughout the holidays, even a fresh few inches on Christmas morning to cover Santa's tracks. We have escaped the usual November winds, and I don't remember a cold Northerly wind like this in the last few years. So... white Christmas? Maybe! I know my kids are hoping so!

I'd tell you where the best sledding is in town, but then everyone would know and it would get crowded. All I can say is stay off the streets - that is really dangerous. If you want the inside tip on where to sled safely, call me. In the meantime, get busy on that snowman!

Washington State Ferries - Anacortes, WA to San Juan Islands

Jean Groesbeck - Jean Groesbeck & Assoc. Broker, e-PRO, ABR, ASP, CRS, IMS: Real Estate Agent in Anacortes, WA

We are having a winter storm with worse weather to come. The high winds have caused a power outage on Orcas Island so it has caused some interruptions in the ferry schedule. You can expect power outages throughout the islands for the next couple of days if these high winds continue.

Stock up on batteries now. Be careful of using candles!!!

Get your wood supply close to the house, and cover it up in case we do get snow.

We get a few bad windstorms a year, but they say these is going to be a biggy!

There are white caps in Guemes Channel and the Ferries are rocking. The storm is really fun to watch, and even winter storms are beautiful in our area of the country.

Rick Bunzel: Inspector in Mount Vernon, WA

I was recently working with a client looking at a commercial property and was sent a Google Street View link. Last I checked they were only doing major metro areas however this morning I noticed the little yellow figure on the map and gave it a try. Sure enough - anacortes street view Street view car

The Googlers had driven through town to the end of main street and out to the ferry. Wow this is just like when we got our first traffic light, McDonald and Walgreens. Only this time we are really on the map. I suspect the Google Streetview car was through in early summer as the Fidalgo Coffee stand was open but the ACS building was not complete.

Google doesn't announce when they are going to map an areas but one needs to stay tuned to changes that can help remote clients get a feel for the area.

Calling all Penguins!

Meredith Laws - Windermere Real Estate/ Anacortes Properties - 360-770-1997: Real Estate Agent in Anacortes, WA

Well, it's not exactly skinny-dipping, but it sure is fun to watch! The Thunderbirds will be going with whoever else is brave enough to jump in Clearlake for a quick swim on New Years Day, 2009. I haven't actually swam in the lake, but I was so cold last year just standing on the shore that I was pretty convinced I had frostbite! I was never so happy to see a cup of hot cocoa!

If you count yourself among the brave of heart, contact me and I'll put you in touch with the powers that be to get you registered for the event and hook you up with a really cool T-Shirt that says... Penguin Dip!
