The Incredible Shrinking City...

Dinah Lee Griffey: Real Estate Agent in Allyn, WA

Dinah Sees a Mini City...

In Flint Michigan the City has taken the proactive approach of removing old abandoned homes from certain neighborhoods.

The concern is that they attract crime. There is also potential for injury if someone were to go inside exploring such as a small child might do.

I think removing these home is a good idea. In fact it is being stated that the property values are going to rise almost instantly!

Now for part two. The above all sounded like a positive move to me until it was mentioned that the city is considering asking the residents in the remaining nice homes to relocate to other "better" neighborhoods in an effort to save money. The City has not approached homeowners yet but are crunching numbers on saving money by not providing some services such as garbage to just 1 or 2 people on a given street. They are looking in to the possibility of condensing the population and therefore saving costs.

What do you think? Is this a good idea gone to far? Is is fair to the tax payers? Would you support this in your neighborhood?

Dear Buyer in Belfair,

Dinah Lee Griffey: Real Estate Agent in Allyn, WA

I wanted to take this time to thank you for purchasing a home that you are certain to love for years to come. I also wanted to congratulate you on your smart choice of timing.

Interest rates have hit historic lows and you have been able to take advantage of this tremendous opportunity. Not only have you saved money on your monthly payments you were able to use the $8,000.00 First Time Home Buyers Tax Credit, because it had been at least three years since you have owned your own home. I was also impressed that you made an offer on a short sale, and even though it took an extra few weeks to close- you were patient and in the end you were able to get a terrific deal, and help the home owner out.

I know from experience that you and I will be sitting across from each other one day when you do decide to sell your home, and I will be able to show you what a great move you made when you purchased this home when you did. There will be those who will regret that they did not buy during this market, but you will not be among them.

Congratulations on your new home, may you have many happy memories here!

Sincerely,

Dinah Griffey, Michelle Roethle, and Ryan Lowe
