About Bellevue's Kelsey Creek

There are many many great family events in Bellevue, WA.  Earlier this week, I wrote an article on the Sheep Shearing Festival at Kelsey Creek Farm in Bellevue, WA.  It is a fantastic event that attracts people from all over the greater Seattle area. 

Kelsey Creek Farm is located at 410 130th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98005  The Sheep Shearing Festival happens every year in late April or early May.  You can go the City of Bellevue events page to find out more information about great family events in Bellevue.

My daughter and I attended this year (2011).  It was an incredibly beautiful day.  Given how bad the rain and early spring has been weatherwise, the event was packed with relatively long lines at every ride or event.

There were a number of great events: 1) the Sheep Shearing demonstration, 2) Bouncy Houses from FunRent.com, 3) Sheep Herding with Sheep Dogs demonstration, 4) Hay rides, 5) farm animals, and 6) yarn spinning demonstrations. 

There are many great family events in Bellevue, WA.  Bellevue, WA is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.  At the sheep shearing event today at Kelsey Creek Farm, I was particularly impressed by the diversity of Bellevue which was demonstrated in spades by the people at the sheep shearing event today at Kelsey Creek Farm in Bellevue, WA.

As we head into President's Day 2011 tomorrow, we have been enjoying some cold clear days and this morning's walk with our dog was no exception as we headed over to Kelsey Creek Farm Park. The gravel paths were crunchy with frost, the sun had just come up, and in the distance were a pair of Canadian geese letting us know as we entered their personal space.

After doing the loop around the park, we headed up to the top of the ridge and took the trail left toward the big barn. This image is one of my favorites and captured the moment, need I say more! We continued on down toward the barn into the fullness of the morning sun. What a gorgeous day and a great way to start the morning.

Kelsey Creek Farm Park has over 150 acres of trails and open space in it's entirety, with the active stream Kelsey Creek running through it. There are two historic barns gracing the property and farm animals for the kids to enjoy.

The park is situated a short distance east of Wilburton Hill Park and just south of Glendale Country Club Golf Course. Living nearby in one of the affordable neighborhood homes is a great lifestyle.

So, if you haven't as yet discovered this gem of a park, put it on your list of places to visit and enjoy with your family, take a picnic lunch, or bring your small children to play in the playground. The owner of Bellevue's Kelsey Creek Center has submitted plans to update and expand the aging shopping center, where a former Kmart has stood vacant since 2002.
