The history of Finley Washington starts in March 18, 1902, when George Finley discovered the quiet area now known as Finley. George Finley, where the town gets its name, was a farmer who relocated from Nebraska. Originally, Finley was a very small town where only around 25 families resided. In the 1950’s, the population started to increase abundantly when its neighbor town Hover had to relocate to Finley. These new inhabitants transferred to Finley because of the construction of a dam, which later is now where River View High School was built.
During Finley’s formative periods, the development of the fresh water sources, rail lines, and electrical resources came about. Other utilities were also made available to the town dwellers of Finley. Even manufacturing, chemical, and other industrial firms started to flourish in the years of 1950s to 1960s. These still stand on the town of Finley until today.
Established hospitals and medical centers could easily be accessible from Finley, such as the Kennewick General Hospital, Lourdes Medical Center, and Kadlec Medical Center. A few miles away from the center of the town are many amenities like that of transport stations and food services. There are also available schools and community colleges in the area that proudly boasts of having a high percentage of high school graduates and almost 6% of the population pursuing further studies. The majority of the male working population of Finley work in the construction field, while women mostly work for healthcare and educational services.
