In a world that is becoming more concerned with healthy eating, Subway is a great option.
How did one of the world’s most successful submarine shops begin? The restaurant did not begin out of a love for food, but rather was a means of fulfilling a dream of higher education. It was the summer of 1965, 17 year old, Fred DeLuca had high hopes of attending college in order to become a medical doctor. However, De Luca needed financial assistance in order to attend school. Dr. Pete Buck, a nuclear physicist and family friend suggested that De Luca open a sub shop in order to earn money for school. With a $1,000 loan, De Luca opened the first sub shop in Connecticut. Since the restaurant’s humble beginnings, Subway has turned into one of the fastest growing franchised restaurants in the world. There are over 35,000 restaurants in over 98 countries around the world.
Kingsgate Subway Kirkland, WA offers 21 great tasting sub sandwiches. Enjoy classic sub flavors such as turkey, ham, tuna. Or enjoy the tastes of a philly cheesesteak, sweet onion chicken teriyaki, spicy italian, and more. My personal favorite is the Italian B.M.T. What does B.M.T. stand for? Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest. And it certainly is. The sandwich features Genoa salami, spicy pepperoni, and black forest ham. Then like all Subway sandiwches, you get to customize it with your choice of tasty veggies and condiments. Over the years, Subway has expanded their menu to include a variety of bread and condiment options, as well the ability to have your sandwich toasted. Additionally, every month, Subway features a specific footlong sandwich which is priced at $5. There are a few other subs that are always $5. It’s a great deal! Looking for a lighter option? Subway also serves up a selection of customizable salads and breakfast options. Complete your meal with a side of chips, cookie, and drink.
