This particular Bartells has been a staple of the area for many years. About 10 years ago, the store was located in the same shopping center, but was situated in the spot where Bank of America currently resides. The current Bartells is located right next to their old location, but is significantly larger and resembles most of the newer Bartell locations.

The Bartell Drug Company was founded by George H. Bartell Sr., a 21 year old pharmacist from Kansas. In 1890, he purchased the first drug store in the city. By the 1920s he had expanded the single drug store to a thriving chain of pharmacies scattered throughout the Seattle area. Bartell Drugs is the oldest family owned drugstore in the nation! The mission of the company is, “To serve our Northwest Neighbors’ health and wellness needs better than anyone else.”
