A quick review of some of REALTOR.com's latest stories provides us with the finding that Mukilteo, in Snohomish County, is in their Top 10 list of places to live. One of my band mates lives in Mukilteo in a gorgeous home overlooking Puget Sound and the islands, I'm pretty sure his house doesn't fit the magazine's definition of "affordable" but it sure is nice.
I was happy to see that an area of our state was listed as we've dropped off the top 10 in many other magazine ratings over the past few years because of the rising prices of real estate. Guess the past 2 years of price drops has brought us back on the radar a bit as still being relatively affordable compared to other coastal areas still.

Mukilteo is a quiet, suburan city just 25 miles North of Seattle. It has an award-winning school district, beautiful views of the Puget Sound, master-planned neighborhoods, and an overall charming appeal. Money Magazine seems to agree.

The Money Magazine list of the top 10 best places to live list was just released, and Mukilteo checked in at number 10. This is a big accolade for a city that is many times overshadowed by its larger neighbors. The homes were selected based on good schools, affordable homes, low crime rates, and strong economies.

We are constantly purchasing new artwork and usually use between 12 and 20 pieces of art in each staging.
Artwork is truly the "finishing" touch!
Here are examples from some homes we have staged:
Dining Room: This canvas artwork was selected for this dining room to bring some of the kitchen colors into the dining room, and for it's size. The blue/green from the kitchen backsplash tile and countertops is reflected in the artwork.
Master Bedroom: This framed artwork stands in for a headboard, making the bed one of the focal points of the room. The reflecting pond and stately villa depicted in the artwork give an added bit of elegance to this room.
Media Room: This space had a niche for a t.v., so we used a faux t.v. with a fabulous city scene. Also in this room is a colorful poster framed in black. The colors in the poster enhance the colors in the chair next to it.

Family Room: Here is another room with a niche for a t.v., but in this space we selected artwork instead of a faux t.v. This graphic artwork complements the style and colors in this room.

Living Room: When selecting artwork it is important to have pieces that are the right size for the space. These two botanicals are large in scale and bookend the furniture arrangement nicely in this room. The touches of black throughout the space also make this room feel balanced.

Foyer: The foyer is a great place for art! This piece is large enough for this grand entry and can also be seen from the den (on the left).
Den: What better piece of "art" to hang in a den/home office than a large vintage-looking clock? In this home the den was used by the on-site real estate agents and their clients, so the clock was a practical and decorative element.
Living Room: In this room we used the large colorful canvas artwork again, which ties in with the blue sofa. The metal art above the fireplace adds some texture and pattern to this space. Artwork does not always need to be hung. The metal art is leaned against the walls above this angled fireplace.

Bathroom: In a bathroom or powder room it is important to have smaller scale artwork that doesn't overwhelm the space. In this photo we selected two matted and framed drawings hung above the towel bar. The frame color coordinates with the oiled bronze finishes and the dark wood in the room.

Mukilteo and neighboring area residents are getting their chance to speak out either for or against the opening of Paine Field to commercial flights. Allegiant Air is hoping to add several flights from Paine Field to Vegas in the coming year.

I am sorry to have been absent for the most part for a few days. I have been collecting offers and fielding phone calls for my new listing in the Seattle suburb of Mukilteo - four so far in just a few days! Real estate is not dead and anyone who wants to be all doom and gloom should take note: There are buyers out there!
If you are on the fence, get off because this is the buyer's market in Seattle you have been waiting for! Even with a great market full of choices, there is still going to be competition - just not as much right now so get on it!
