Two Seattle waterfront homes were sold this past week, one with beach rights and the other with a true waterfront shoreline.

The 3 bedroom, 2 bath home was on the market for 5 months and dropped from a peak price of $489,000 to a final sale price of $375,000. The home has beach rights along with the water views, and was a short sale transaction.
The second sale was also in West Seattle, a home in Arroyo with 50 feet of Puget Sound shoreline. The property enjoys a large stone bulkhead along the sandy beach with nearly half an acre of land. This Thursday, March 20, Arbor Heights Elementary School will hold an Auction & Art Fair to fundraise for art-enrichment programs. Silent auction, art fair, musical entertainment and artist demonstrations. 5:30-8 pm at Arbor Heights Elementary, 3701 S.W. 104th St.
Check out the neighborhood while you're at it; I've been noticing some new sidewalks lately. They go quite nicely with the new-ish street signs that were put in about a year ago or so.
Maybe I'll see you there!

When I was a kid I used to live close to, but not actually in the Arroyos. I even used to ride my bike down that hill for some inexplicable reason, only to have to walk it all the way back up. But had I not done that, perhaps I wouldn't have discovered what fabulous views of Mt. Rainier can be had up here.
This was taken near sunset just the other day. When you're walking that area, it's so beautiful to see the mountain's presence behind the evergreens and the Sound.
When Mount St. Helens had its second large eruption in July 1980, I ran down 39th S.W., stood in the street and looked across the water. There, way off in the distance, you could actually see the plumes of ash rising from the mountain. (I was out of state during the first eruption.)
My second favorite Mount Rainier viewing spot? The McLendon's Mural in White Center, of course!
