What an event. I started out by purchasing a little two bedroom condo here in the Spokane area that I felt was a tremendously good price, and decided to fix it up a little bit and rent it for a few years and then sell it after a remodel later. I called a friend of mine who does handy man work and had him come over to paint. I wish I had the pictures from the moment you walk in to how it looks now, but it looks so good, what was just a cosmetic touch up has turned into a bigger remodel project.
Take this old fireplace with the 70's style lava rock...time for a makeover! The plan is to put some nice tile up and trim around the edges.
I won't do a before or after on the bathroom just yet (save that for the next blog article on the condo project), but wow, I'm amazed at how much of an improvement you get when you strip old wall paper, and repaint with a little earth tone and white trim. You end up with such a terrific updated look. Mike does excellent work and very affordable. Email me if you'd like to have him maybe take a look at your situation and see about what he might do it for...he's dependable and does a good job.
Note I have added new plug ins and light switches that are white, new white smoke detectors, and new white thermostats throughout. Before it was such a mismatch of models and colors and really dated thermostats. The carpet is in good shape and with a good cleaning will be like new. In the future someone could pull it up and put down a nice wood floor. I like Bamboo myself and it would go great with this interior color scheme.
I could go on and on, but doing these things dramatically improves the feel and looks of things and modernizes the condo. It has a new stove and microwave now, and I plan to put in a new updated dishwasher and airconditioner as well as washer and dryer units. The current air conditioner and dishwasher works, but are 70's models. Get rid of em'....
....To Be Continued

A few weeks ago the Inland Northwest was hit with several days of snows followed by an unseasonably warm period that brought below freezing day time temperatures to around 50 degrees F. This lead to a faster than usual melt off and even some flooding higher up stream in Idaho. Just as the saying "what goes up must come down" so it is with water always flows downhill. The dams are letting extra water out now to accommodate incoming flow higher up...
Earlier in the Week the water level began it's rise...
Then by Thursday...and this is January!!! Usually you don't see water levels like this until Spring.
The Geese are sure having a good time it looks like...for those not acquainted with the area, the Spokane Rivers flows from a large lake about 25 miles East of her called Coeur D'Alene Lake and flows to the West in and through the Spokane Aquifer until it runs into the Columbia River to the North East. Power is generated along the way to support residential and commercial customers. The Centennial Trail runs along the river's edge and used by walkers, runners, bicyclists, skaters and these Canadian Geese.
This is the area near the Edgewater Condominium Complex. The area is located near Gonzaga Univerisity and Spokane Community College.
