Wordless Wednesday - A Winter Mt. Hood From Washington
I took this photo a week or so ago, just outside of White Salmon, Washington, looking toward Mt. Hood across the Columbia River. Although the Gorge and valley haven't received a lot of snow so far this winter, Mt. Hood is still covered. This photo seems to be a study in whites, blacks and greys, with a little icy purple mixed in... truly winter colors.

Friday's Foto - Dog Creek Falls
It's funny how you can pass great spots along a highway without even knowing they are there. I stopped to take a photo of Dog Creek last weekend as I drove along Highway 14 between the towns of White Salmon and Stevenson, Washington. Along that stretch of the highway, the cliffs are pretty much constant, but all of a sudden here's an unexpected crack with a pretty little waterfall.

Friday's Foto - White Salmon, Washington
White Salmon is a small town in Washington, just across the Hood River bridge, perched on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River. I took this photo of main street, showing the beautiful and charming City Hall Building. I love it's apparent German influence on the architecture... seems so fitting for a small, mountain town.

This May Be My Favorite Historical House... EVER!
I've driven by this home many times and finally stopped to take a photo of it. I find it to be simply stunning. It just screams old world charm and looks so cozily tucked into a massive grove of trees. I would have loved to photograph the inside, but didn't want to be intrusive. There was a lady, maybe in her 80s, cleaning the pool to the far left of the house. I tried to find the house's history online, but couldn't find much information, other than the fact that it is referred to as the Lauterbach home (a pioneer family in White Salmon) and that it was built in 1904. It's obvious that it's been gloriously maintained and restored. It's located at the end of main street (Jewett), on the left, in the town of White Salmon, Washington.
