I seldom keep track of anniversaries...can't tell you the day I was licensed, how many years we have been in the house we built...etc.....But today...I can tell you today is the first anniversary of my lapband surgery from the very wonderful, friendly, caring,
From the height of more than a little chubbiness....until today...I have lost 77 pounds. For those of you Skinny Minneys and Marks who say...oh great....she quit eating the donuts....snacking on M & M's and drinking gallons of soda....of course you lost weight...JUST WAIT.....so not true. A number of years and pounds ago...(not an anniversary I choose to remember) I became diabetic. My blood sugar regardless of diet, exercise and insulin was out of control....high and bouncing all over the charts. A trip to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,MN got me off every drug I was on and introduced me to a new kind of insulin...and life was good. And then...because it was an insulin apparently not widely used or known....Eli Lily opted to discontinue making it. Trial and error with other insulin...and literally hundreds of units a day packed on pounds.,...and added other health complications commonly associated with obesity:
Do you know what your BMI is and what it should be ? Here is a calculator....be honest...complete your height and weight and BINGO it will tell you.
Talk about CHANGE....if you are preently overweight, insulin dependent...not wanting to be a type 2 diabetic,...struggling with sleep apnea, high blood pressure, lack of energy....you have "everything to lose" by at least going to one of the seminars offered by the Bariatric Institute if you are in southeastern Wisconsin...if you are not...do yourself, your health, your life a favor....talk with someone who is an expert in the field of bariatrics. If you want to talk with someone who has had a lapband...call me...I am only toooooo happy to sing the praises of the procedure and be living testimony to the results!

When I was younger I would drive through Brookfield, and at that time it was just a concept of building out Bluemound Road as to what it is today. In Brookfield, there are wonderful subdivisions, and combined with a corridor that has fine business, shops, and Brookfield Square, which is a very large mall.
Things have certainly changed over the years, but Brookfield still maintains it's charm and also offers a wonderful and thriving business atmosphere as well.
The homes, the people, the subdivisions, the shopping, it all is superb.
Brookfield, though relatively young as an incorporated municipality, has roots which stretch far back in Wisconsin History. The area around the present City, originally home to the Sac and Potowatomi tribes, was at first ruled by the French. The area came under English control in 1763 after the French and Indian War. After the American Revolution, England ceaded it's claim to the territory to the United States, and the Brookfield area became part of the Northwest Territory. Over the years as new States entered the Union, southeastern Wisconsin was attached to many territories. In 1836, Brookfield became part of Milwaukee territory, in the Territory of Wisconsin.

The first White settler, William Howe, arrived in 1820 with a Presidential Land Grant, giving him title to the area. Robert Curran bought a claim in 1836 and established a tavern and a Inn. By 1839, the area the population necessitated a school house, and the 1840 census showed a population of 148. In 1846 Milwaukee County split up into ten smaller counties. The new County of Waukesha contained 16 townships, including the town of Brookfield. The town grew relatively slowly over the ensuing years, remaining primarily agricultural, with Brookfield Junction serving as a Commercial center for the surrounding farms. A second railroad depot, constructed in 1867, still stands.

Between 1850 and World War II, the character of the Town of Brookfield changed little. It remained agricultural. This quiet, rural atmosphere attracted one notorious resident as Al Capone established a residence and distillery on Brookfield Rd. The 1920's also brought the first suburban development to Brookfield. The Great Depression effectively killed the demand for new housing, and the early subdivisions developed slowly.
After World War II the development of Brookfield increased. The lack of housing and the baby boom were large contributors. Brookfield has experienced tremendous growth in fifty years. Brookfield grew from a small Village of 7,900 people in 1954 to 39,656 residents in 2006.
Today Brookfield is a beautiful community that offers anyone a great place to work, live, and enjoy.

Where is the best place to raise a family? Right where I live and practice real estate!
According to Forbes Magazine there are 2 Wisconsin counties -- both in the Milwaukee area that rank among the top 10.
Among the criteria to be selected are: A low cost of living including reasonably priced homes, and short commute times and excellent schools.
Also the communities had to have populations greater than 65,000. And the average SAT and ACT scores must top 1,050 or 22, respectively. These factors reduced the number of counties under consideration to 51 in the country.
After that, Forbes considered cost of living, graduation rate, home prices, property tax rates as a percentage of median home prices, percentage of homes occupied by owners, per-capita income, air quality and crime rate.
Here are the results:
I have lived in Waukesha County for many years. The school systems are rated excellent and the average commute time is 20 minutes for workers. Both Wisconsin counties are located close to Milwaukee with commutes to downtown of about 20 - 30 minutes. Compared with most of the country our real estate prices are bargains!
