Homes for Heroes would like to give a warm welcome to our new Affiliate, Jim Hooyman!
“I think it is funny how things happen in our lives. I have a brother, Dr. Thomas Hooyman, who was a professor at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He was killed in an accident on his way to work. He worked with 3rd world countries and as a tribute to Tom, a library in Ethiopia was dedicated in Tom’s memory! Truly a Hero!! I have a father, a World War II veteran, who was a Master Sergeant in the Phillipines. My Dad has since passed on but Always, Always, Always, had a Positive Attitude!! My father was not only A True Hero he was an Inspiration!! He wanted me to broaden my real estate and become a Realtor. Ironically, he died while I was attending my real estate classes.
I have always been a patriotic, flag pole flying, individual. I sincerely believe that we live in the best country in the world, and I personally have very much to be thankful for! When I was 18 (eighteen) I enlisted in the Marines, in the late 60’s; the Vietnam War was being fought. Fortunately or unfortunately, I didn’t pass the physical, probably a God send on my part. At that time there were no parade’s or welcome’s of the soldiers returning home from the Vietnam War, which was very unfortunate. It was a very confusing time for our nation!
The ‘Homes For Heroes’ program is a great asset to all of our heroes and their families! I think it is extremely important to Honor those people that give the utmost Sacrifice daily! They lay it all on the line everyday.
They give without saying ‘What’s In It For Me’, and for that I am very, very, grateful!!
GOD BLESS OUR HEROES!”
