The emphasis is on people, small town life and a strong sense of Community in Middleton Hills, a unique neighborhood located in the City of Middleton. Front porches are featured as well as smaller friendlier streets, walking paths and plenty of Greenspace. You have to walk to get your mail, and you can stroll over to buy groceries, too, at the Copps food market. Other small shops and businesses are integrated in this friendly community, designed to get back to simpler times and a better quality of life not found in typical developments.
In addition to a variety of residential units including condominiums, apartments as well as over 400 single family homes, Middleton Hills provides commercial, retail and business space as well as live/work units. It all works together beautifully.
As you walk or even drive through Middleton Hills, a sense of harmony can quietly overtake you. It is the combination of the layout of the neighborhood, the natural setting and the architectural features and consistency of the structures blending peacefully together. A colleague of Frank Lloyd Wright, Marshall Erdman, worked closely with internationally known architects and city planners to create this exceptional community where the amenities can be enjoyed by all. The 510 acres of the adjacent Pheasant Branch Conservancy and proximity to the State Capitol of Madison with all its cultural venues and educational opportunities enhance Middleton Hills even further.

Driving back from the office today and stopping at my local Copps Supermarket on Century Ave in Middleton: just to be healthy, I enter in the produce section door. (Another choice is entering in close proximity of the liquor and ice cream section-not as healthy.) This is the first thing I see tucked on a shelf under the nectarines.
Dragon fruit! That one on the left looks like it could start start breathing fire!
I am no wimp when it comes to trying new foods or dining in ethnic restaurants of nearly any type. But I have never seen nor heard of this and I sure thought they were pretty cute.
I quickly found that About.com had a step by step illustrated piece on how to prepare and eat dragon fruit in the section regarding Thai cooking. It is even more intriguing looking on the inside and it goes well in a fruit salad or juicer or in smoothies. It would be quite dramatic for entertaining along with fresh pineapple, and maybe a mango and a star fruit-should be a real conversation starter (not that I worry too much about starting conversations!)
