A family of 10 members in New Berlin recently had their home ravaged by fire....and we know that the power of Active Rain and the charitable kind hearts of the people who read this blog will help them with whatever they can to make their holiday happier....here is a letter that was sent to the parents of the students at New Berlin West High School.....Charity begins at home...send this to your address book blog subscribers....

If you can't get to the high school and have donations that need to be picked up, please call our home office: 414-525-0563 and we will arrange a time for us to pick up whatever you have to give. Your thoughtfulness and generousity are greatly appreciated at this family's challenging time.

Dear Parents/Guardians

It has come to our attention that one of our West families has lost all of their possessions in a fire. The family has three children attending West and one at Poplar Creek. There are a total of 10 people in the household. Needless to say, they are in need of everything. In the spirit of the holiday season we are coordinating a relief effort on behalf of the family. The following items are their most pressing needs:

Boys shoes sz.12 Girls shoes sz. 71/2 Winter wear of any kind sz. Lg & XL Bedding for adults and children (three bedrooms were lost) Gift Cards of any kind Clothing sz. lg and XL, and for a third grader

Your donations can be dropped off here at school in the Guidance Dept. between the hours of 7:15-3:15. If you wish to donate large items (furniture etc) please call and we will make arrangement to pick-up. Thank-you for your support in this effort.

There is a couple in New Berlin who has a son currently stationed in Iraq. They have started a charitable organziation called "Take a Soldier to the Movies." This couple sends boxes to our troops that include a DVD, Microwave Popcorn, Candy a package of drink mix and a letter from home. Go to their website, you can even use your PAY PAL account and make a donation on line safely in a matter of minutes. Click...Click...Flick Flick....They are always in need of donations but especially as the holidays approach...your help would be appreciated. So if you can find it in your heart....and your wallet, they would appreciate the following:

• A new or used DVD
• Microwave Popcorn
• Camdy (Why not give away some of the trick or treat goodies)
• Drink Mix Packages in single servings
• Cash - 100% tax deductible and used for shipping costs

To make your donations stretch a little further...you can go to The Dollar Tree Stores...they have great boxes of all kinds of "movie candy" or go to one of the wholesale clubs for a large supply of Microwave Popcorn or family size packages of single serving drink mixes. You can just mail a check...you don't have to live in Wisconsin or near New Berlin...good old American cash works from ANYWHERE.

Why not....suggest this to your SOI with your holiday cards and Calendars as a way of giving back to the folks who are giving to you every day ?
