Treyton's Field Of Dreams,

Whitewater WI!

And you can help make it happen!

Just click on this picture and it will take you right there to vote;

Last January, I posted several blogs about this Pepsi project. Many worked hard to try to get as much publicity to this wonderful cause in remembrance of Treyton Kilar who was killed in a senseless car crash by a drunk driver on September 2, 2010. The Kilar family fell just one place shy of receiving the money.

But that did not stop the Kilar family, actually just the opposite happened. This created the impetis for that family to go forward with many events and fundraisers and they are almost there!

Here is how you can help the Kilar family as well as the entire community acheive Treyton's Dream;

Even though the Kilar family did not win that challenge, I would like to take just a moment to thank the incredible efforts and help from many including my friends Ed Silva, Ellen Caruso, Tim Peterson, Amy Hahn, Rain Silverhawk, Kristin Johnston, Valerie Zinger, Shirley Soforic, Tish Lloyd and many so many others who reblogged, tweeted, Facebooked and did everything they could to help me get the word out!

I cannot thank you all enough for all the help you gave me!

What an amazing community Active Rain is.

I read the following article on the Janesville Gazette website:

A day for dreams: UW-Whitewater celebrates largest graduating class

GazetteXtra.com

It goes on to explain how the recent graduating class of 2010 in Whitewater Wisconsin was it's largest. It doesn't go into a lot of detail about the actual size of the class, but I was encouraged that we still had students pursuing collegiate education. It was even more encouraging that they were actually following through and graduating.

Then I came to the comments on the bottom. It seems that there are differing opinions on the what colleges these days (and politics) are promoting. Many believe that students are being pushed/led towards degrees in industries where currently there are very few jobs. They are being told to pursue what they enjoy, even though it may not lead to a financially secure life and career.

Doing what you love is very important, but so is supporting one's self financially. What are your thoughts? Should students be pushed towards the 'trades'? Real Estate? What careers are most needed in your market?
