Real Estate Market Report | White Sulphur Springs, WV | Greenbrier County

If you like living in small towns, with a low crime rate, and love to golf you may want to check out White Sulphur Springs........a small southern town located in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the population was 2,315. White Sulphur Springs is home of the world renowned Greenbrier Resort and Spa, and home of the soon to be Greenbrier Medical Institute.

At this time, I have two listings in White Sulphur Springs. Motivated seller has just reduced the below listing from $224,500 to $199,900. This 1912, 4BR, 3BA renovated farmhouse sits on 3.23 acres in a quiet and peaceful setting. The house has a new metal roof and new state of the art duct work. There is also a water softener/purifier; paved driveway; 2 car garage, shed and a partial fence on side of house. The total square feet is 2,880.

The Days on the Market (Dom) were less in 2011 than in 2010 as the price range depicts homes sold at the Greenbrier's Sporting Club (homes in the millions) compared to homes around the town of White Sulphur Springs (homes in the hundred thousand and below range).

With the construction of the Greenbrier Medical Institute, I think the land in White Sulphur Springs, as well as houses, will start to go upward. With interest rates still low, now is the time to start thinking of buying property, and/or making those necessary home repairs to market your house.

dandelion

In celebration and appreciation for the determination of the dandelion.
The gutsy little flower fights its way through velvety lawns,
dodges mowers, and weed killers, and against all odds,
reigns supreme as it blankets our village each spring.

Paying It Forward, The House is Completed | A Special Women Build Celebration

Rebecca Gaujot, Realtor WV Real Estate in Greenbrier County: Real Estate Agent in Lewisburg, WV

Paying It Forward, A Special Women Build Celebration

On Friday, May 13, Courtney Jesser, Jocelyn Hannah, Karen Armstrong and I were cleaning the house and getting ready for the House Blessing Ceremony on Saturday morning. This is the day, Saturday,...... volunteers prepared for the ceremony, putting up signs, blowing up balloons, setting up chairs, microphone, speakers, adding flowers around the house....and then …. FINALLY, we were ready to dedicate the house to the Blevins’ family.

Women Build House Blessing

It was a beautiful day! The Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity Women Build House was dedicated on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 AM. Michelle Connor, Executive Director, opened the ceremony with prayer and stated “A House Blessing is an opportunity to offer thanks to God and to seek God’s blessings upon the Blevins’ family and their new home. It is also a time to celebrate the completion of the house and to thank everyone that took part in it! Thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors and square foot sponsors and donors for help making a family’s dream come true.";

Speakers were:

  • John Connor, Director of Development
  • Karen Armstrong, Director of Family Services
  • Lynn Swann, Councilwoman, City of White Sulphur Springs, and Director of Public Relations at the Greenbrier
  • Lora Pierce, State Director, WV Habitat for Humanity
  • Phil Rolleston, played guitar and sang “You’ve got a Friend”

Services were:

Lighting of the Candle - the Blevins’ family received a candle for their home as a symbol of Christ’s love for the world.

Presentation of the Gifts – Rebecca Gaujot and Jocelyn Hannah presented symbolic gifts to Laura on behalf of Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity. Included in her Welcome Basket was:

  1. a bag of sugar to bring sweetness to the family’s home;
  2. salt and pepper to add spice to their life;
  3. a package of rice so there will always be food in their home;
  4. bread mix to share with family and friends;
  5. a bottle of sparkling cider for prosperity;
  6. potted flowers to bring beauty &; joy to their home and life; and
  7. a Habitat bumper sticker so they will not forget those that helped make it possible.

Others in attendance came forward and presented gifts to Laura and her children.

John Connor offered the Blessing of the Home and Michelle Connor presented a Bible to Laura.

Laura Blevins’ dream finally came to fruition today, when she was given the keys to her new home by Leslie Waddle, one of the volunteer ladies that faithfully gave of her time to help make this moment possible. When Laura, Gregory, Dominique, John and Ileana opened the door to their new home........the crowd’s count down ended in a “Welcome Home”.  Check out the video below:

Laura’s thirty year mortgage loan will have a monthly payment of $322.22, which includes estimated homeowners insurance and estimated taxes. This amount is well below fair market rental rates for Greenbrier County.

Meet the new homeowners - Laura Blevins and her four children,

Ileana, Gregory, Dominique, and John.

The Blevins' family = new homeowners

This ends my series of Paying It Forward, on a Women Build House.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as we, the volunteers, enjoyed building this house for the Blevins' family..... we wanted to help, so we built a house!

Jesus reminds us by his words in Matthew 25:40, "...... I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."
