Sheridan Wyoming has once again received an award. This time, we've had the the honor of being recognized by Newsmax.com as one of the top 25 Uniquely American Cities and Towns. It's not surprising for those of us who live here. We already know that this is a uniquely American town. Sheridan, Wyoming is #21

Even though it's a relatively small percentage of people who know about our area, it's amazing how many wonderful "small world" connections there are to the Sheridan Area, the heart of "Where the Rivers Run North". Many people have either visited or know someone who has visited the Big Horn Mountains or a dude ranch such as Eaton's Ranch, Paradise Guest Ranch, The Rafter Y or The HF Bar Ranch. It's the experiences from here that they remember. Those experiences are rich from the connection to the people and activities in addition to the beautiful landscapes. We think it's the connection to this area that brings people back. Maybe it was a completely relaxing vacation- something that's healthy for a body and soul, or maybe someone grew up here and now wants to return or perhaps they spent a summer working on a dude ranch in the past. We know there are connections just waiting to happen and that's where we come in. We can help you re-connect to the lifestyle here and find the landscape that will suit you best. Whether it's a home in Sheridan, a building site or a ranch, we are here to link your lifestyle to your desired landscape. We can also offer land and ranch management for anyone who might want such services. Contact us for more information.

Spring is once again turning the Sheridan area green. The continued moisture, whether in the form of snow or rain, is producing a vibrant green blanket beneath the Big Horn Mountains. Soon, leaves will re-appear on trees and the mountain snows will yield to the warmer temperatures, while the landscapes and mountain views become a sight to behold. Once you've experienced this magical time here, it's not hard to understand why those of us who live here do so.

On Sunday, March 29, it started raining and then the rain turned to snow. It looked like the weather forcasters were going to get this right. We hurried home after my daughter's basketball tournament and got the horses fed enough to last a few days and then we hunkered down. The snow started coming in sideways for about 16-18 hours. Schools shut down and so did just about everything, and then it stopped. Voila, the results are below.

These photos were all taken in the Big Horn WY area. The white will give way to green in a week or so and then the summer vacationers will start making their annual pilgrimige to our wonderful place in the world to visit Wyoming Dude Ranches, The Sheridan WYO Rodeo, Big Horn Polo, fly fishing and all that the Big Horn Mountains have to offer.
Big Horn, WY is still one of the great places in this world to live, work and play. With the timeless beauty of the Big Horn Mountains for a backdrop and the outstanding character of the wonderful people in this community, Big Horn truly is one of the last best places.

Well, unfortunately we're having a bit of a Spring storm today here in Sheridan WY, but hey- it's March and it's WY. It isn't quite bad enough to cancel school for the kids though, but my horses were sure unhappy this morning. They're waiting for better days ahead, maybe to try to buck me off when they get a few mouth-fulls of green grass in their bellies!

Since it's Spring, brighter days are coming. The ranches around the Sheridan area will once again radiate green and the Sandhill Cranes (in the picture) that are already back will relish in the wonders of the Sheridan and Big Horn areas at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains. Life is good!

Here in the midst of economic chaos and fear, where the Stock Market has lost more than half its value in the last eighteen months and scandals and fraud seem to overwhelm the news every day, you might wonder if there's anything real and substantive out there in the world. Remember when people bought what they could afford? Remember when handshakes still meant something? Remember a time when people said what they meant and meant what they said? And how about the good "old-fashioned" work ethic, where people worked hard for and earned their money to afford things of value? Are these values just "old-fashioned"? We think not. Although we all may have lost some net-worth, there is still something very worthwhile about living in the Sheridan area.
Yes, we have values here that still resonate with most people, and perhaps that adds value to our special properties. We think value and values are closely correlated. We think that the "old-fashioned" values help add value to real estate, because people want to live, work and play in areas where they can trust one another, where they feel safe, earn a decent living and enjoy their lives. This is a unique place where you can enjoy the "Sheridan Lifestyle". We think the value of our properties is tied to quality; quality land, quality of investment and quality of life. Quality properties have always sold in the Sheridan market and we think the trend will continue. We're fortunate to live in an area where we are blessed with the riches of abundant natural resources, including coal, oil and gas, in addition to the extraordinary outdoor recreation and wonderful lifestyle offered here. There are many reasons to live, work and play in Sheridan. Whether you're looking for an investment opportunity or a great lifestyle, or both, we have it. Sheridan and the surrounding area, which includes Big Horn and thousands of acres of our wonderful Big Horn Mountains and the vast ranch land of Powder River Country, offers opportunities to enjoy life in a more relaxed setting with high quality of life . At the end of the day, you can "hang your hat" in Sheridan, WY knowing that your family is safe, your taxes are low and you can actually enjoy your investments. Read more about Sheridan and Wyoming, where we have low unemployment, a state surplus, and some great investment opportunities.
When you invest in any property, you're making an investment in more than just the property. If it's a commercial property for, whether you live there or not, you are investing in the greater economy in which the property is located. Similarly, when investing in a home, you are investing in a community as well as your family and your dreams. After all, most people invest in their homes for more than just financial reasons. We like to believe that people still invest in their families and lifestyles by purchasing homes that suit both. Although home buyers can and will see the values of their homes increase over time, it is likely to take time and not be inflated the way it has been in the past decade or so. While the homes appreciate in value, hopefully families are growing together and enjoying their lives.
In an economy where uncertainty is certain, where corruption, fraud and dishonesty have left investors with real losses, it might be comforting to know that we still have real values and value. From high-end properties to income producing properties
and cash-cow businesses, we have something to offer.
COMING THIS SUMMER IN SHERIDAN AND BIG HORN This summer, we'll have 10-14 goal polo at the Flying H Polo Club and our local club, the Big Horn Polo Club, will offer Sunday games at the Big Horn Equestrian Center. This is excellent action for spectators. We will also have outstanding rodeo events, such as the Sheridan WYO Rodeo for 2009, which will surely excite spectators as will the World Championship Indian Relay Races. Furthermore, we have the best golf in Wyoming at the Powder Horn Golf Community- a 27-hole championship course and we have all kinds of outdoor adventures for the serious sportsman or the more casual recreation seeker. The wonderful Big Horn Mountains and the Bighorn National Forest offer scenic drives, hikes, backpacking, fishing, camping, boating, etc., just to name a few activities. Maybe you like horseback riding. Try out one of our world-famous dude ranches, but be careful; they've "hooked" a lot of people and once "hooked, it's impossible to get the Sheridan Lifestyle out of your mind and soul!
